Head coach Ruben Amorim has stated that Mason Mount is a “proper footballer” with a strong desire to succeed at Manchester United. The 25-year-old Mount transferred from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, but his tenure at Old Trafford has been affected by injuries to date. He was in the starting lineup against Bodo/Glimt and participated for 60 minutes in the Europa League win on Thursday. Amorim expressed his “belief” in the England midfielder, remarking: “The first thing is he’s working really hard. Then you have to understand the human also – he wants this really badly, and that is the most important thing.” Amorim continued, stating: “He has proved he is a really talented player. He was a European champion, so we believe in him a lot.” He added: “He has to stay fit and, like all the guys in the team, they are quality players, they have to improve and believe in themselves.” Regarding Mount’s performance, Amorim commented: “On Thursday he did a great job. You see some moments and details where you can see that Mason is a proper footballer. We believe in him a lot and I especially believe a lot in Mason.” Following a draw against Ipswich in his inaugural match as manager, Amorim is optimistic about securing his first Premier League victory as United’s boss when they face Everton on Sunday at 13:30 GMT. He further stated: “It’s going to be a different match with a lot of fighting for long balls and second balls.” Amorim also noted: “They have a quality coach who understands the league and understands the moment of the opponent. We need to have the ball because we have a short time to recover.” He concluded by saying: “I hope for a win and I hope to see different things in my team improve, like we did from Ipswich to now, against Everton, without training. I expect to see different things and better things.” Post navigation Fan Perspectives on Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United Head Coach Appointment Assessing the Risk for Ruben Amorim Following Manchester United Appointment
