Amanda Staveley has stated her aspiration to soon be involved again with Premier League football, amidst recent associations with Tottenham. Staveley, who, along with her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, played a role in brokering the Saudi-led acquisition of Newcastle, was reportedly in discussions earlier this year regarding acquiring a stake in Spurs, external. Speaking at Bloomberg’s ‘Women, Money & Power’ event in central London, she was questioned about her sentiments towards Newcastle and the reported links with Tottenham. Staveley remarked, “First of all, I think all we can do is thank the amazing Newcastle community and the founders for all the support that we had and and continue to get. It’s so hard to move on from a club that’s amazing. We could never move on from Newcastle and we never will. But yes, we’re looking at a number of investment operations.” She further added, “We can’t say too much at the moment because of you know, rules around it. But we will be able to talk about it, hopefully in the not too distant future.” In July, Staveley and Ghodoussi sold their remaining shares in Newcastle to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben family.
