Alistair Johnston, the Canada right-back, has declared himself fit for the League Cup final. This announcement follows his forced exit due to a hip flexor injury during the midweek Champions League draw against Dinamo Zagreb. While he was not photographed with Celtic during their Friday morning training session, Johnston later appeared on the pitch and confirmed he felt adequately prepared for Sunday’s decisive match against Rangers. Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers commented on the team’s health, stating: “The squad is healthy. We expect Ali to be OK. He was out on the pitches this afternoon so it should be, hopefully, everyone fit and available.” Rodgers further explained Johnston’s situation, noting: “It was just an extra bit of recovery for him, really. Naturally, he’s been an outstanding player for us over the course of his time here and in particular this season, he’s been instrumental in our work.” He concluded by adding: “Speaking to him earlier out on the pitch, he was fine, so we expect him to be OK.”
