Alexander Zverev secured his spot in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. He is now set to compete against Holger Rune in the next round. Meanwhile, Zverev’s upcoming semi-final opponent, Holger Rune, advanced by defeating Australian ninth seed Alex de Minaur in a three-set match, 6-4 4-6 7-5. The 27-year-old Zverev is aiming for his seventh career Masters 1,000 title, which would be his second of the current season after his victory in Rome. For Tsitsipas, this defeat concluded his aspirations of qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin. Zverev’s next challenge is against Holger Rune, the 21-year-old Dane, who is a former Paris champion, having secured the tournament title in 2022 by defeating Djokovic in the final. Regarding his upcoming match against Zverev for a spot in the 2024 final, world number 13 Rune commented: “He is one of the best players this year, so I will have to be very well prepared and physically recover and build on the level from this match.” In the other semi-final scheduled for Saturday, French 15th seed Ugo Humbert is set to compete against Russian Karen Khachanov. Both players advanced to this stage after securing straight-set victories. Humbert, who had previously overcome world number two Carlos Alcaraz, secured his latest win by defeating Australian Jordan Thompson with scores of 6-2 7-6 (7-4).
