Aldershot Town has announced that their manager, Tommy Widdrington, is making good progress in his recovery after experiencing two strokes last week. Widdrington, aged 53 and manager of the club since April 2023, was hospitalized on Wednesday, November 27. He was admitted to Southend General hospital early the following morning and has since been undergoing various scans and tests as part of his treatment for an ischaemic stroke. The club released a statement indicating an “encouraging” response to his initial treatment, particularly given his previously good health. The statement noted, “Being of good health prior to Wednesday, and historically in general, his response to this episode and the initial treatment has been very encouraging,” adding that “He has made very good progress and is feeling and looking a lot better already.” Widdrington returned to his home late on Tuesday afternoon to commence further rehabilitation. He expressed gratitude for the support received, stating, “He is very appreciative of all the messages of encouragement he’s received from all corners of the football world.” The timeline for Widdrington’s return to the dugout remains undetermined. His extensive 15-year playing career included stints with clubs such as Southampton, Grimsby Town, Port Vale, Hartlepool Town, and Macclesfield Town. The former coach for Bristol Rovers and Eastbourne Borough conveyed his confidence in the team, saying he has “total faith in the staff and the players in his absence.” Post navigation Caroline Graham Hansen’s Double Puts Norway on Track for Euro 2025 Finals Horisk Predicts Continued Excellence for Canavan Brothers
