The Policy and Finance Committee (PFC) of Alderney has selected an acting leader for the island, succeeding the departure of its highest-ranking politician. Ian Carter, the PFC’s Deputy Chairman, is set to assume the role of Acting Chairman, serving until his term concludes on December 31. Nigel Vooght relinquished his chairmanship on Sunday, attributing his decision to “political infighting” within the governmental structure. Mr. Carter stated: “Whilst there will always be political differences and robust exchanges within government, it is important that everyone moves forward working collaboratively together in 2025.” The PFC indicated that Mr. Carter’s appointment is intended to ensure short-term stability in advance of the annual States member appointments scheduled for the January States meeting.
