BBC Radio Newcastle has presented a series of features this week concerning Wallsend Boys Club, which is commemorating the 120th anniversary of its founding this year. Over the years, this grassroots club has fostered a multitude of top-flight footballers and England internationals, including prominent players such as Peter Beardsley, Michael Carrick, and Alan Shearer. Alan Shearer, the former striker for Newcastle and England, stated: “It really is a fabulous place and we are so lucky to have it in our area.” He further elaborated, “It’s such an environment that you feel as if you can express yourself, you feel comfortable in who and what you are, and you feel comfortable in trying things out.” Shearer concluded, “You feel at home. When you feel comfortable and happy, you’re able to express yourself that much better.” Post navigation Dundee United Supporters Voice Disappointment After Hibernian Draw Worcester Christmas Day parkrun extends welcome to all
