AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson has been issued a one-match touchline ban after being sent off during the Dons’ 2-2 draw with Newport County. The 42-year-old boss was dismissed for protesting a penalty decision awarded to Newport in the fifth minute of additional time during their League Two fixture at The Cherry Red Records Stadium on Tuesday, 3 December. Shane McLoughlin successfully converted the spot-kick, securing a point for the Welsh side. Jackson, a former Charlton Athletic midfielder, was also fined £750 for his actions. “The manager admitted to acting in an improper manner in the 95th minute of the fixture and his sanctions were imposed by an independent regulatory commission,” a Football Association spokesperson stated in a post on X. Earlier in the game, Alistair Smith and Matty Stevens had given Wimbledon a two-goal lead before Michael Spellman halved the deficit for the visitors. The penalty incident arose when Kyle Jameson was fouled by Huseyin Biler, providing McLoughlin with the chance to equalize from the spot deep into added time. Wimbledon currently occupies sixth place in League Two with 30 points and is set to host third-placed Doncaster Rovers at 15:00 GMT on Saturday.
