Three kittens were found abandoned inside a cardboard box within a park in Lincolnshire. Dog-walkers discovered the trio, estimated to be approximately 10 weeks old, in North Hykeham on Friday. The kittens were subsequently handed over to Lincoln Cat Care. The organization reported that inquiries from individuals wishing to adopt the kittens had already been received. The charity stated that owners abandoning their pets is becoming a “regular occurrence.” Penny Craig, the charity’s coordinator, commented that the kittens, christened Jerry, Larry, and Harry, “couldn’t have been there long” given their good condition when they were found. She elaborated, “These three, when they came in, just didn’t know where they were. They were suddenly in a box, in some strange person’s house, and being suddenly removed from what they thought was their home.” Prior to being made available for adoption, the kittens are scheduled to be neutered, microchipped, and administered worm medicines. Ms. Craig noted that the issue of abandoned cats is “a lot worse” this year. She further stated, “It’s a regular occurrence, and it’s been really bad this year.” She added, “We’ve never previously had to turn away taking cats into care, but we have had to this year I’m afraid because we just haven’t got the space.”
