A segment of the A34 southbound was shut down for several hours due to a collision involving three lorries. National Highways indicated that two of the vehicles involved in the early morning incident were “very heavily damaged and shed their loads on to the road”. A single lane of the southbound carriageway near Abingdon became accessible again at approximately 10:30 GMT. The entire road was then fully reopened to traffic around 14:00. National Highways reported that two of the lorries were travelling on the dual carriageway, while the third was parked in a layby. Motorists had been advised to allocate extra journey time, find alternative routes, or even postpone their trips. Thames Valley Police confirmed it was a “damage-only” road traffic collision, and police personnel had since left the scene.
