National Highways announced that overnight road closures affecting a segment of the A180 in North East Lincolnshire will persist until the middle of January. Maintenance and repair operations on the concrete surface of the westbound carriageway, situated between the Brocklesby and Barnetby Top interchanges, commenced in mid-October. This £8 million project was initially scheduled for completion by November 28, after which work on the eastbound carriageway was set to begin. Nevertheless, National Highways indicated that additional repairs became necessary because of “recent weather conditions.” The agency explained that the overnight closures are essential to allow contractors to safely replace 200 concrete bays, a measure intended to “prolong the life of this section of the A180 by five years.” The Local Democracy Reporting Service reported that a sequence of weekday overnight closures, occurring between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT, will conclude on December 10. These closures will then recommence on the eastbound side from January 2 to January 14. A single lane of the road will remain inaccessible continuously. National Highways stated: “We plan to remove all traffic management over the Christmas embargo period, from 06:00 on 20 December. We will then reinstate all traffic management on 2 January, with a lane one closure on the eastbound carriageway.” The agency also noted that all scheduled work is contingent upon weather conditions.
