Residents in Beverley will experience enhanced travel flexibility during the upcoming festival period, as a frequently used route is slated for a temporary reopening. Traffic control measures on a segment of the A164, specifically between the Victoria/Morrison’s roundabout and the Ward Way roundabout, are scheduled to be removed from 06:00 GMT on 19 December until 06:00 on 6 January 2025. A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) confirmed that these restrictions would be suspended “while our project team takes a festive break”. This ongoing work forms part of the £86.9m A164 Jock’s Lodge improvement scheme. The spokesperson additionally stated that the vicinity around Minster Way and Lincoln Way “will be left in a safe condition before the Christmas shut down”. The Jock’s Lodge junction connects two of the area’s busiest thoroughfares: the A164, which extends from Beverley to the Humber Bridge, and the A1079, linking Hull to York. The improvement scheme includes: Construction for the improvement project commenced in July and is anticipated to reach completion in late 2026.
