Emily Brobyn, a presenter for BBC Radio Manchester, has suggested that Manchester City might honor Pep Guardiola with a statue or by naming a section of their stadium after him. This speculation arises as the Spanish manager is reportedly poised to finalize a new contract, which would extend his tenure at the club to a decade. Commenting on the development, Brobyn conveyed her enthusiasm to Radio Manchester, stating, “It is incredible news – I’m so over the moon.” She added, “I don’t think any City fan would have possibly thought that we’d have a decade of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.” Brobyn highlighted the opportune timing of the announcement, coming directly after a sequence of four consecutive defeats, suggesting it “will provide the boost that City fans have been looking for, in what is a really important time of the season.” She further remarked on Guardiola’s deep connection to the club, noting, “He’s so passionate, he feels like one of us now, he completely gets it.” Brobyn elaborated on her ideas for recognition, proposing, “The next step with him completing a decade I’d look at maybe the club commissioning a statue of him, they may even name the north stand when the extension is complete – they may give him that honour and give him the name of the stand.” She concluded by emphasizing Guardiola’s exceptional standing, asserting, “That’s the level we’re at with Guardiola – he is a genius, he is the best football manager in the world.”
