Bristol City is set to host promotion-contending Burnley on Saturday. Bristol City’s recent performance shows only one loss in their last ten matches (four wins, five draws), that defeat being a 2-1 result against Sheffield United in their most recent game played at Ashton Gate. Burnley, known as the Clarets, have recorded just one defeat in their last twelve games (five wins, six draws). They currently sit four points away from the automatic promotion positions as this weekend’s Championship fixtures approach. Historically, Bristol City has lost each of their last six league encounters with Burnley. This number of defeats equals the total losses they experienced in their previous twenty-one combined meetings against the Clarets. Burnley has also secured victories in their last three away league matches against Bristol City, managing to score two or more goals in each of those visits to Ashton Gate. This season, Burnley has demonstrated a strong defensive record, conceding only six goals in fifteen Championship matches. This ties them for the fewest goals conceded by a team in their first fifteen matches of a Championship campaign since the 2004-05 season, a record shared with QPR from the 2010-11 season. Bristol City’s player, Nahki Wells, has scored four goals in his last five Championship appearances. This tally is just one goal fewer than the five goals he scored across his preceding twenty-four games combined.
