Frank Lampard has called on his team to demonstrate greater clinicality when scoring, following his confirmation that leading goal-scorer Haji Wright will not be back in action prior to Christmas. The manager of the Sky Blues is set to oversee his fourth match as Coventry prepares to welcome Hull City to the CBS Arena this Saturday at 12:30 GMT. His team currently occupies 16th position, maintaining a four-point lead over the Championship relegation places. Wright, an international player for the USA, has been sidelined since November 9 due to an ankle injury. Before his injury, he had contributed seven of Coventry’s total 20 league goals. Coventry possesses the joint seventh-best offensive record in the league based on goals scored. Lampard expressed confidence that the Sky Blues can continue to score goals even without their primary forward as they approach the demanding festive schedule. “Do we expect Haji Wright in the next two or three games? No, because he’s not on the training pitch yet,” Lampard stated. “I am obviously very keen to get him back as I understand his importance for the squad. He is a big player for us.” He added, “But I just have to work on what we’ve got now. We have got talent and we’ve got options. Let’s try and get results and then Haji will be there.” Regarding a previous match, Lampard commented, “Against West Brom, in terms of chances created, we were strongly the better team but we have try to be more clinical in the box.” He concluded, “In terms of confidence in front of goal sometimes you just have to keep working and it will come.” Post navigation Supporters Discuss Aberdeen’s Performance and Managerial Support Matt Ritchie Attributes Improved Strength to Gym Efforts
