Ali Orr, a batter for Hampshire with a T20 strike rate of 158 across 11 innings, stated that the Global Super League tournament arrived at an opportune moment for him following a season hampered by injury. Orr is a member of the Hampshire team that journeyed to Guyana, South America, to participate in the inaugural five-team T20 event. The 23-year-old joined Hampshire from Sussex before the 2024 season but was sidelined for the majority of it due to injury. Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Orr commented, “It felt like things were just starting to go my way at Hampshire and to then break my arm was frustrating. Coming here, though, I feel like a part of it all and I can’t wait to get going. I thought it was going to be a long winter but this tournament has come just at the right time for me.” He further added, “It’s a great way to be around everyone but also play competitive cricket and we’re hoping we can win the tournament.” Other participants in the competition include Bangladesh’s Rangpur Riders, Pakistan’s Lahore Qalandars, Guyana’s Amazon Warriors, and the Australian state side Victoria. The five participating teams will vie for the championship title and a prize fund totaling $1million (£764,000). Hampshire is scheduled to face Rangpur Riders on Wednesday in their opening match. The tournament features 11 games over 11 consecutive days, commencing on Tuesday, 26 November. Each team will compete against every other team once, with the top two teams from the group stage advancing to the final on Saturday, 7 December. Orr remarked, “My first impressions over here have been really good.” He continued, “I’m so excited to get going with the guys and it’s a new experience for me and my first time doing franchise cricket.” Orr also stated, “The pace and intensity will be so high, there’s players here I watched on the TV when I was younger and I can’t wait to play against them.” Post navigation Scotland’s 2026 World Cup Qualifying Group Revealed Five Nations Secure Afcon 2025 Qualification, Ghana’s Chances Persist
