Aston Villa’s Pau Torres expressed confidence that the team can maintain their perfect home record in the Champions League by securing a victory against Juventus, even while acknowledging that the Italian club is likely considered the favorite for the upcoming fixture at Villa Park on Wednesday. Despite being positioned sixth in Serie A, Juventus remains undefeated in the league this season, having achieved six wins and seven draws in their initial 13 matches. Meanwhile, Villa has secured three wins from their first four Champions League encounters, which include home triumphs over Bayern Munich and Bologna. The defender, Torres, commented: “We started really well [in the Champions League], of course we lost a good opportunity against Club Brugge, but here at home we are feeling comfortable.” He continued, “We know that like Bayern Munich, Juventus as well are favourites on Wednesday. But we know that if we are at our highest level and focused 100%, we can beat them, so we’ll be trying to get that win.” This season marks Villa’s inaugural participation in the premier European club competition in over 40 years, and Torres further remarked on the significance, stating: “It’s special for us and the supporters. They’ve been waiting many, many years to be in this competition again.” He concluded, “We started really well and have been giving them happy nights at Villa Park. We want to enjoy it with them.”
