Law enforcement is looking into an incident involving an assault on several Jewish schoolgirls in north London, treating it as a possible antisemitic hate crime. According to the Metropolitan Police, the girls were traversing the Woodberry Down Estate, situated close to Manor House Tube station, on Monday at 19:45 GMT when a bottle was launched from an upper level of a structure. The police force reported that a 16-year-old girl sustained a blow to the head and was transported to a medical facility. Her injuries have been determined to be non-life changing. A spokesperson for the police indicated that officers responded to the scene but could not locate the alleged perpetrator. Shomrim, identified as a proactive community safety patrol, was summoned to the location, alongside Hatzola, the Jewish volunteer ambulance service, which transported the injured girl to the Royal London Hospital. Shomrim stated that it assisted police officers in pinpointing the alleged suspect’s apartment using CCTV recordings and testimonies from witnesses. It further reported that law enforcement visited the flat around 23:00, but the suspect was absent. In a formal statement, Shomrim declared: “The premeditated attack has left the local community deeply shaken.” It added, “Evidence suggests the perpetrator had prepared the bottles and plates in advance, deliberately targeting the girls due to their visibly Jewish appearance.” The Metropolitan Police has appealed to anyone possessing information to get in touch with them or the independent charity Crimestoppers.
