A road in a Surrey town centre has been closed after panels became detached from a hotel development, a consequence of Storm Darragh. Woking Borough Council announced on Saturday that Victoria Way had been shut in both directions. This closure was necessitated by damage to the exterior rainscreen panels located on the lower sections of the development. The council further indicated that additional panels were also deemed vulnerable. There have been no reports of injuries or harm to other structures or vehicles. According to the council, personnel from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Surrey Police, building control officers, and delegates from the construction contractor Sir Robert McAlpine are present at the location to evaluate the circumstances.
