A new position has been filled at a cathedral by a priest, whose responsibilities will encompass chaplaincy duties for a secondary school alongside engagement with two urban churches. The Reverend Lex Bradley-Stow has been named Peterborough Cathedral’s growing faith chaplain and will also serve as an associate priest focusing on children, youth, and families. Funding for this position is provided by the diocese, The King’s (Cathedral) School, and the Farmington Institute, an organization known for awarding grants to foster and promote Christian education within schools. Ms Bradley-Stow commented, “This post is such an exciting opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting to know the various communities I’ll be working in.” The Very Reverend Chris Dalliston, who serves as the Dean of Peterborough Cathedral, stated, “We welcome Lex and we look forward to working with her as we seek to listen carefully to the voices of children and young people to ensure their priorities help to shape ours.” The chaplain’s responsibilities will include dedicating a portion of her time to The King’s School, a state-funded co-educational secondary institution responsible for educating the cathedral’s choristers. Additionally, she will engage with children, young people, and families at St John’s the Baptist Church, situated in the city centre, and its affiliated church, St Luke’s on Mayor’s Walk. Ms Bradley-Stow transitions into this role from the Oxford diocese, where her previous position was curate within a seven-church parish. Prior to her ordination, her professional experience centered on children, young people, and matters of faith, serving as a religious education teacher. John Harrison, the headteacher at King’s, expressed his “delighted” sentiment regarding her appointment, concurrently, Michelle Dalliston, the vicar at St John’s, remarked, “This puts children and young people at the heart of all we do.”
