Law enforcement officials have conducted an operation to tackle anti-social behaviour within a Kent town centre, prompted by concerns voiced by local residents and business owners. Officers intensified their patrols along Chatham High Street, leading to the confiscation of five e-scooters and the seizure of alcoholic beverages from individuals consuming them in public. Furthermore, eviction notices were issued to people who had established encampments near the riverside. Inspector Paul Diddams stated: “We are aware that local people want robust enforcement to tackle some of the issues that can affect their quality of life.” He added, “Those who continue to commit crime or cause a nuisance will receive regular attention and appropriate sanctions from the town’s beat constables until they put a stop to their disorderly behaviour.” During the initiative on December 13, trading standards personnel also confiscated illicit vaping products from two retail establishments. Concurrently, three individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of theft. For updates from BBC Kent, connect via Facebook, X, and Instagram.
