Hundreds of motorcyclists are scheduled to deliver Christmas presents to children at a North Lincolnshire hospital this weekend. The Scunny Bikers group will ride their motorcycles to Scunthorpe General Hospital on Sunday, December 8, to donate toys to children admitted to the Disney Ward. The motorcyclists plan to gather at The Old Farmhouse on Doncaster Road at 11:00 GMT. Their route will take them through Gunness and Burringham before they reach the hospital at approximately 13:00. The toys were contributed by members of the public through local supermarkets and Glenny’s bar in Scunthorpe. Gavin Stubbs, the event’s organiser, stated: “I want to say a big thank you to the local community and the supermarkets for all the donations.” He added, “Our members absolutely love putting a smile on the children’s faces. It’s a wonderful way to kick-start our Christmas by donating to our local hospital.” Vikki McAlpline, the manager of Disney’s Ward, expressed that they are “truly grateful” for the toys and anticipate the children’s faces will “light up” upon seeing them. She further commented, “It’s tough for children in hospital at any time of the year but it’s particularly hard at Christmas. This helps take their mind off what they’re going through.”
