A police officer experienced partial hearing loss and sustained burns after a boy threw a rocket firework towards him. Merseyside Police reported that the young boy, whose face was covered, was part of a group of youths who were damaging cars and discharging fireworks at Belle Vale Park in Liverpool at approximately 18:35 GMT on Wednesday. The officer suffered a loss of hearing, a laceration to his ear, and burns and cuts to his head. Detective Inspector Neil Dillon characterized the event as a “disgraceful incident… which could have so easily been even worse”. Det Insp Dillon issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward, adding: “You may have captured this group on CCTV, dashcam or other devices, and this may be vital evidence.” Superintendent Dawn McNally, who is leading Merseyside Police’s operation concerning Bonfire Night, commented that such “reckless behaviour” was “completely unacceptable”. She added, “We’re supporting the injured officer as this investigation continues.” Post navigation Police Investigate ‘Unexplained’ Death of Man Found in Cleethorpes Tent Man pleads not guilty to murder and rape charges
