Legal proceedings against a former West Yorkshire Police officer, who had been under investigation for alleged historic child sexual exploitation, have been discontinued. Amjad Ditta had been assigned to the force’s protective services operations and was stationed in Bradford. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed that there is no “realistic prospect of conviction,” approximately five years after Mr. Ditta was initially charged with sexual touching in December 2019. A spokesperson for the CPS stated: “The CPS has a duty to keep all its cases under constant review.” The spokesperson added: “Following the receipt of further evidence, the CPS concluded that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction and so the case against this defendant has been stopped.” A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson indicated that Mr. Ditta is no longer a serving member of the force, specifying that his exit was not a consequence of disciplinary proceedings.
