Anis Mehmeti, born in London, represents Albania internationally. Bristol City head coach Liam Manning has commended Anis Mehmeti’s determination following the forward’s outstanding performance in the Robins’ Championship victory over Plymouth Argyle. The Robins achieved a decisive 4-0 win against a struggling Argyle side, managed by former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney, at Ashton Gate on Saturday. Mehmeti was a key contributor, scoring two goals and setting up Scott Twine’s opening score. “I’m really pleased for him,” Manning conveyed to BBC Radio Bristol regarding the Albania international, who has now accumulated six league goals this season. “He loves the game and he’s so driven.” “What I love about him is you can be tough on him, you can be quite honest with what you’re seeing and what you’re asking him to do and he then does his best to try and make it happen.” “I’m delighted he got the goals.” Bristol City currently holds the 11th position in the Championship with 25 points, placing them just five points away from the play-off spots. The club has never competed in the Premier League, with its most recent season in the domestic top-flight occurring in the old First Division during 1979-80. Manning emphasized that goals from a “variety” of players in the Robins’ squad will be essential to ending the club’s 44-year absence from top-flight football. “We need everyone to turn up and contribute and chip in,” Manning added. “He (Mehmeti) was a good example of that.” “We need people to turn up and deliver in high pressure moments, he did that.” The Robins’ next fixture is an away match against bottom-placed Portsmouth on Saturday.
