A west London local authority has secured a High Court injunction aimed at halting unauthorized parking on land designated as green belt. Over 300 vehicles were found to be unlawfully parked on a privately held property situated in Harlington. An inquiry conducted by Hillingdon Council’s enforcement division revealed that numerous vehicles were being stored and offered for sale by various entities on the site, alongside structures that had been erected without permission and gravel laid to strengthen the surface. Steve Tuckwell, who serves as Hillingdon Council’s cabinet member responsible for planning, housing, and growth, stated that the council understood residents’ “concerns and frustration”. The local authority secured the injunction on December 10. The property, accessible through Manse Close, is required to be completely cleared and returned to its original state by February 14, in accordance with the court’s directive. This legal measure was initiated after residents lodged complaints and the council’s planning enforcement team carried out an investigation. Becky Sloan, a resident of the area for approximately 25 years, reported that the land was boarded up without any advance notice to the community. She commented: “Life has been awful and stressful.” She added: “It’s caused litter and rodent problems, with cars coming and going 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” Stuart Wilson, a resident for 42 years, indicated that the vicinity had become unsafe. He stated: “It’s been pretty horrific and taken so long for any action to be taken. “People are very annoyed. It was a peaceful area, but it’s all changed.” Intentionally violating an injunction constitutes contempt of court and may lead to incarceration. Mr. Tuckwell remarked: “I’m pleased the High Court has recognised the urgency of this issue by granting the injunction to finally bring the illegal activities to an end.” He continued: “The offenders have shown a flagrant disregard to the local area and safety of the neighbourhood by ignoring previous enforcement notices for financial gain.” He further added: “We are committed to keeping residents safe and to protect precious green belt land, and will always take robust action to ensure our planning rules are enforced.” Harlington Investors Limited, the proprietors of the land, have been contacted for a statement.
