An officer from the Essex Police force has been instructed to complete a driver training course after colliding with a parked vehicle in a city. CCTV footage captured the moment a marked Essex Police vehicle drove into the stationary black car on Mersea Road in Colchester. The incident, which occurred just after 19:30 GMT on 11 November, resulted in no serious injuries, and the officer will not face any further action, as understood by the BBC. A spokesperson for Essex Police stated: “Details were exchanged. The driver of the police car will undertake a driver training course.” In the clip, which was viewed by the BBC, the black car was shown parked partially on the pavement, facing the direction of oncoming traffic. After entering the frame, the police car crashed into the stationary vehicle before mounting its left side and coming to an abrupt stop. The officer then exited their car before seemingly inspecting the damage caused to the parked vehicle. The BBC had inquired with Essex Police about what caused the officer to collide with the car but received no answer.
