Rugby posts belonging to a local club were damaged by vandals who uprooted them and left them on the playing field. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that reports of the vandalism incident at Alexandra Way, Penzance, were received, occurring sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday. The posts, situated at a ground utilized by Pirates Amateurs, Penzance, and Newlyn clubs, were taken apart and piled on the pitch. The Devon and Cornwall Police have appealed for anyone with relevant information to come forward. In a statement posted on Facebook, Pirates Amateurs indicated that although the posts had been re-erected, the club expressed that it was “extremely saddened” by the occurrence. Pirates Amateurs further stated that scheduled youth games for Sunday would be able to proceed due to volunteers’ efforts in restoring the posts.
