Ipswich Town Football Club has presented proposals for the expansion of its training facility. The Premier League club indicated that the renovation of the Playford Road site would involve the construction of a “state-of-the-art” building for the first team. Among the new amenities detailed in the plans are a hydrotherapy centre, an updated gym, and dedicated rehabilitation zones for the players. Construction is slated to commence in 2025 and is anticipated to conclude the following year, prior to the start of the 2026/27 season. The club also stated that the current main structure at the centre would be extended, refurbished, and subsequently utilized by the academy and women’s teams. Additionally, an alternative entry point for players, staff, and visitors is planned, alongside increased dining capacity and additional parking provisions. In September 2023, Mark Ashton, the club’s chief executive, emphasized the necessity for a “more professional environment.” He further commented, “We need a multi-million pound spend on the facilities at the training ground to bring us up to speed.”
