Thousands of individuals are anticipated to attend a complimentary fireworks display in Norfolk. The Fawkes in the Walks event is scheduled to occur in King’s Lynn on Friday evening. West Norfolk Borough Council dedicates £18,000 to stage the event, with funding derived from car parking charges. Bal Anota, the independent cabinet member for events and open space at the council, expressed that it is one of his preferred events. The spectacle, which has been held for 16 years, is slated to commence at 18:00 GMT, with the fireworks planned to start at 20:00. Other live entertainment will encompass music from the local three-piece band Bear Club and DJ sets by Radio West Norfolk presenter Simon Rowe. Last year’s event experienced a one-week delay due to heavy rain and flooding, but the weather prediction for this occasion is dry. David Copeland, the local district commander at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, advised people planning their own events to reconsider. He stated, “You run the risk of maybe a bonfire getting out of control – we see that quite a lot this time of year.” He continued, “Last year we actually had a firework set fire to a neighbouring property that spread into the house.” Copeland concluded, “Fortunately no-one was hurt but you can imagine the anxiety that caused.” Norfolk news updates are available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
