Will Skelton, recognized as one of rugby’s premier locks, has indicated that Australia anticipates their most challenging fixture of the current autumn tour against Scotland this Sunday, 24 November. The Autumn Test is scheduled for a 13:40 GMT kick-off at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. Coverage will be available via BBC Radio Scotland and live text commentary on the BBC Sport website and app. Following a period of difficulty, including a disappointing performance at last year’s World Cup, the Wallabies have shown signs of resurgence with notable victories over England and Wales. The 32-year-old forward noted that these recent successes have fostered “a good buzz” within the squad, though he emphasized that the Australia camp remains grounded and is not getting ahead of itself. “We’ve won two games, we’re very aware of that,” stated the La Rochelle lock. “The Test against Scotland is going to be the hardest one yet. We’re excited about this weekend and we’re looking forward to ripping into it.” Skelton further elaborated on Scotland’s strengths, saying, “Physically they’re up there with the top five in the world. I think set-piece wise they’re really strong. You’ve got a guy like Finn Russell who’s a maestro at the back there. I think it’s going be a close one and we’ll be up for it.” He concluded his assessment by adding, “There’s some class players in the Scottish team and, when they’re at it they’re world class, so we’re going to have to be on top of our game.” The upcoming match holds particular significance for Australia-born Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu. Skelton confirmed that the Wallabies are fully cognizant of the threat posed by the Glasgow centre. Regarding the 27-year-old Tuipulotu, Skelton commented, “He’s a class player, good with and without the ball. It’s awesome to see an Australian as a captain as well, playing for another country, which is cool. He’s going to be a handful this week and we’ll be ready to try and nullify him as a threat.”
