Former Rangers player Kyle Hutton has been charged following the death of a woman who was struck by a truck in South Lanarkshire. It is alleged that the 33-year-old was operating a Mitsubishi pick-up truck on Farmeloan Road in Rutherglen on Saturday evening when it collided with Victoria Cairns. Ms Cairns, 40, was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but passed away on Wednesday. Hutton was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. He was scheduled to appear in court earlier this week, but did not attend. The Crown Office confirmed that the case against him remains active. The BBC understands that no further court dates are currently scheduled for the case. Hutton joined Rangers in 2010 and remained with the club until 2015. He has since played for teams including St Mirren, Queen of the South, and Cowdenbeath. The midfielder currently plays for Gartcairn. Police have requested that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses dash-cam footage make contact.
