A driver deemed dangerous, who engaged officers in a high-speed pursuit, has been incarcerated after being located by a police dog while concealed in a bush. Jack Williamson attained speeds exceeding 70mph (112km/h) in zones designated for 30mph (48km/h) as he drove through Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire on September 14, according to police reports. After abandoning his vehicle in a pub car park on Alfreton Road, Williamson – who was already prohibited from driving – sought refuge in shrubbery. He remained hidden until police dog Seth detected him, tracking his scent from the driver’s seat of the car. Williamson, residing at Farnsworth Grove in Huthwaite, received a 14-month prison sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday. Nottinghamshire Police stated that at one point during the chase, Williamson accelerated through a pedestrian area, compelling a woman with a pushchair to quickly move out of the way. Authorities also reported that he operated the vehicle on the incorrect side of the road, mounted a kerb to pass other motorists, and proceeded through red traffic signals. The 29-year-old, who had previously been imprisoned for a comparable offense, surrendered to officers upon his apprehension. He subsequently admitted guilt to charges of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. Detective Sergeant Clint Gloyn commented: “All-in-all, he had little choice but to plead guilty and will now spend more time behind bars as a result.” Post navigation Sixth Individual Arrested in Connection with 1994 Taxi Driver Homicide Woman receives community order for police car damage during Cardiff unrest
