An elderly woman is in critical condition in hospital after being rescued from a flat fire. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze in Shetland Close, Ipswich, at 02:28 GMT. The woman was brought to safety, and emergency personnel administered first aid until the ambulance service arrived. Four firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus and using hose reel jets, successfully extinguished the fire. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the incident. Three fire appliances responded to the scene: one from Ipswich East and two from Princes Street.
