Johannes Hoff Thorup, Norwich City’s head coach, indicated that Kenny McLean is expected to “bring a presence” upon his reintegration into the squad for Tuesday’s fixture against Plymouth Argyle. The captain of the Canaries was absent from the previous four Championship games, having received a red card during their 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough last month. Before his suspension, the Scotland midfielder had commenced all 12 of Norwich’s Championship encounters, and the team managed three losses and one draw in his absence. Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk, Thorup stated, “The impact Kenny has on the group is something you cannot underestimate – he’s a great captain on the pitch for us.” He further elaborated on McLean’s value, adding, “Obviously what Kenny gives us with his technical ability, his tactical ability and the way he can dictate a game for us (is important) but also just his presence and for the way we want to play, he’s the perfect midfielder for us so playing without him isn’t ideal.” Additionally, Norwich will see the return of striker Ashley Barnes, who will be available for selection for the first time this season. The team is aiming to conclude a seven-match period without a victory. Barnes has been sidelined since May due to a complex calf injury, which he incurred during their play-off semi-final loss to Leeds United.
