The voting period has concluded for a by-election held to fill a vacant position on the board of Onchan Commissioners. This electoral contest was initiated following the resignation of Fenella Logan from the local authority in August. Three candidates are competing for the open seat: Nigel Dobson, Oliver Lockwood, and Scott Wilson, listed alphabetically by surname. The polling station, located at The Hub on School Road in Onchan, was open to voters until 20:00 GMT. The successful candidate’s term of office will extend until the island’s local authority general election, scheduled for 24 April 2025. The Onchan district, which has the island’s second-largest population, accounts for 6,966 registered voters. The board is composed of seven commissioners, and the authority is tasked with providing, maintaining, and carrying out a variety of services within the area, including parks and other leisure facilities.
