Law enforcement authorities have initiated the closure of two residential properties, citing concerns related to criminal activities and anti-social conduct. These closure orders were officially served on properties located at 2 Octavia Close and 42 Elizabeth Terrace in Wisbech. This action followed successful legal applications made by Cambridgeshire Police at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court during the previous week. The closure of one property stemmed from reports detailing violent and inebriated conduct that reportedly caused distress. The second property’s closure was prompted by concerns regarding drug dealing activities and the potential exploitation of its tenant. Both affected properties are scheduled to remain closed until 25 February. According to officers, 2 Octavia Close is now inaccessible to all individuals, including the legal tenant, with the sole exceptions being emergency services personnel, the property owner, and their designated letting agents. Conversely, the Elizabeth Terrace property has been restricted to all persons except for the legal tenant, emergency services, and employees affiliated with Clarion Housing. Non-compliance with these orders constitutes a criminal offense, which carries potential penalties including imprisonment for a maximum of three months, a monetary fine, or both. PC Nicola Coaker stated: “The team has been working hard to tackle the issues raised by the community and further action needed to be taken.” She added: “I hope these orders not only provide respite to the neighbours who are affected by the issues, but shows them we are listening and will continue to do so by monitoring the addresses to check for compliance and deal with any breaches.”
