John Southall, a reporter for BBC Radio 5 Live, stated that Gabriel Jesus’s impressive hat-trick, achieved during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final victory against Crystal Palace, is expected to “do a lot for him”. The Brazil international striker had previously drawn criticism due to a lack of goals this season. Nevertheless, after scoring at Emirates Stadium for the first time in a year during the second half, he secured the match ball. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, Southall remarked, “People don’t see what Jesus does when he doesn’t score goals.” He continued, “I think he’d also admit he hasn’t started as many games as he would like. He has been injured as well, but he does need to score more.” Southall highlighted that prior to Wednesday evening, Jesus had scored only one goal in 33 games, which he deemed insufficient. He acknowledged that the player had appeared for only brief periods in some of those matches but emphasized, “he is a centre-forward and should be scoring more.” Southall concluded, “The hat-trick against Palace will do a lot for him. It will be interesting to see if he starts against the Eagles again on Saturday.” The hat-trick was described as excellent. The initial goal involved a skillful dinked finish, the second was powerfully struck into the corner from the right side of the penalty area, and the third saw him make a run from the halfway line, maintaining his composure to finish brilliantly. The reporter then posed the question, “We have talked a lot about Arsenal centre-forwards – well there is your Arsenal centre forward. Now, can he do it in the next game?” Post navigation Aaron Ramsey Highlights Rodri’s Significance Amid Manchester City’s Recent Losses Matty James Expresses Enthusiasm for Wrexham Move, Citing Desire to Return to Football
