Aldershot Town’s manager, Tommy Widdrington, who previously managed King’s Lynn before taking the Aldershot role in April 2023, has been admitted to hospital for tests following an illness. The National League club confirmed that the 53-year-old’s specific illness has not been disclosed, but assistant managers Hugo Langton and Richard Dryden will take charge of the team in his absence. A statement from the club confirmed: “Tommy is stable and in good spirits, and we shall provide updates when there is anything further to share.” The statement also requested: “In the meantime, we ask that Tommy and his family’s privacy is respected at this time.” It concluded by stating: “Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Tommy for a speedy recovery.” Widdrington, a former midfielder for Southampton, Grimsby Town, and Port Vale, assumed the position of Shots boss in April 2023. In his initial full season at the helm, the team finished eighth in the National League last term, narrowly missing the play-offs by two points. Currently, after 20 games this season, they are positioned 17th. Post navigation Hearts’ League Standing: The Ultimate Measure of Success Brian Fenton Concludes Inter-County Career with Dublin
