Laura Robson, a former British number one who reached the fourth round of both Wimbledon and the US Open during her playing career, has been named tournament director for the inaugural women’s event at The Queen’s Club in London. Scheduled to commence on 9 June 2025, this WTA 500 event marks London’s first tour-level women’s competition in more than five decades. Robson previously served as tournament director for the Nottingham Open for two years, following her official retirement from professional play in 2022. The 30-year-old, an Olympic silver medalist in mixed doubles at London 2012, expressed that she was “delighted to be taking up this role.” She further stated, “I’m confident that the women’s event will be just as thrilling and I can’t wait to get started.” Meanwhile, multi-Grand Slam-winning doubles player Jamie Murray is set to continue overseeing the men’s tournament, which is scheduled to begin one week later. Consequent to Robson’s new position, Amy Hitchinson has been selected as her replacement at Nottingham, resulting in female tournament directors leading over 70% of LTA grass court major events.
