A controlled explosion was conducted in a Warwickshire town after the detection of what authorities termed a “historic device” at a residence. Police personnel were dispatched to Bedworth Road, Bedworth, once the item was located on Sunday around 14:55 GMT. The thoroughfare linking Weston Lawns Fisheries and Bulkington was temporarily shut down as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team inspected the apparatus. Warwickshire Police released a statement at approximately 17:15 GMT, confirming that the EOD team had executed a controlled explosion and that the route had subsequently reopened.
