Authorities are requesting witness accounts following an incident where a vehicle collided with and toppled a historic clock in Bridge of Allan. The sequence of events involved an orange Mini Cooper hitting a barrier upon exiting a car park on Henderson Street, subsequently striking two stationary vehicles, and ultimately impacting the Paterson Memorial Clock located on Union Street. This incident occurred at 16:20 on Friday. The 78-year-old female driver of the vehicle received medical attention at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and has since been released. She is to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal concerning alleged road traffic offences. PC Maxwell Polley of Police Scotland expressed a desire to speak with individuals who were present in the vicinity at the time and have not yet communicated with law enforcement. He further stated: “I’d also like to view any dashcam footage from Union Street and Henderson Street captured between 16:20 and 16:30.” The public is urged to provide any relevant information to the police. The Bridge of Allan community council’s website featured a statement, which read: “The Paterson Clock has long been a cherished landmark in our village, and we know how much it means to the community. “We will work with Stirling Council to understand the possibility of repair of such an important landmark.” Erected in 1898, the Paterson Memorial Clock has been a fixture in the town, serving as a tribute to local physician Alexander Wilkie Paterson.
