Road safety enhancements, including new signage, are scheduled for installation at the A146 Loddon roundabout in Norfolk, an area identified as an accident blackspot. This initiative follows a series of collisions at the roundabout, which was inaugurated almost three years ago. In recent months, damaged vehicles have frequently been observed at the roadside there. The county council anticipates that the addition of chevron signs and lighting will improve the roundabout’s visibility during nighttime hours and mitigate the occurrence of future accidents, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service. This year has seen multiple reported accidents, prompting Norfolk County Council leader Kay Mason Billig, who resides in Loddon, to initiate an inquiry. Discussions held with Norfolk Police concluded that there were “no obvious common denominators” among the incidents. Explanations provided for the crashes included drivers falling asleep at the wheel, excessive speed, and a failure to observe roundabout signage. Mason Billig, a Conservative councillor, further stated: “I do not yet have an installation date, but will be pushing for this to happen as soon as possible.”
