Former Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson stated that consecutive wins against Nice and St Johnstone provide his previous club with “something positive to try to build on”. Following an impressive outcome and offensive performance in France, the team managed by Philippe Clement secured a narrow victory in Perth, which came courtesy of an own goal from Jason Holt. Thomson remarked that “people shouldn’t underestimate” the challenge of managing both European and domestic football commitments, highlighting the travel requirements and limited recovery periods between matches. With Sunday’s triumph, Rangers now trail second-placed Aberdeen by seven points and league leaders Celtic by 11 points. Although Thomson believes his former club is “only one result away from being in a bit of bother,” he expressed optimism that these recent positive developments could invigorate their season. Appearing on the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast, he further commented: “It was a brilliant result through the week. I don’t think anyone could have seen that coming.” He continued: “But to then go to a tough place like St Johnstone, I don’t think people should underestimate how difficult it is to play on the Thursday night before. It’s not an excuse, it’s the reality.” He elaborated: “It’s a fight and you have to have the mentality and the dig to get over the line. They got over the line so they deserve the plaudits, albeit they’ll be small ones. ” Thomson added: “For the manager and the staff and the group of players, I think it gives them something positive to try to build on. ” He concluded: “But it’s fair to say they’re only one result away from being in a bit of bother and they’re almost in that predicament where they can’t afford to lose any more ground on Celtic.” Post navigation Chris Sutton’s Premier League Predictions: Manchester United vs. Nottingham Forest Ireland Squad Hit by Injuries Ahead of Australia Test
