Loughgall aims to build upon their strong performance from the previous season, where they secured a ninth-place finish in their inaugural year back in the top division. Following their 3-0 win over Glenavon at Lakeview Park, manager Dean Smith described his Loughgall team as “super from start to finish” and highlighted their “real togetherness.” Jordan Gibson and Nathaniel Ferris each scored in the first half, with Jamie Rea adding another goal in additional time for the team positioned at the bottom of the league table. “There was a real togetherness in the team performance today,” Smith stated to BBC Sport NI. He continued, “Over the game we probably edged it in terms of chances and the clinical side that we probably have been missing at the start of the season.” Smith further remarked, “The players gave everything. As a manager that’s all you want is for the players to give everything, and I think you can see that, and the crowd buy into that and they just feed off one another.” This win against Glenavon marked Loughgall’s second victory of the current season, following their defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park the previous weekend. Consequently, Dean Smith’s team now shares the same number of points as Carrick Rangers, who are currently in 11th place. Smith commented on the significance of these results, saying, “It gives us momentum; we talk about it all the time.” He elaborated, “It takes something for momentum to turn and we got that last week, and we have built on it this week and we just want to keep building on it and moving forward.”
