Manchester United’s Europa League goal-scorer, Amad Diallo, has indicated his strong desire to remain with the club. His current agreement is set to expire in the summer, although United holds an option to prolong this contract for an additional year. The Ivorian player had previously stated in the summer his objective was to continue at Old Trafford, a position that evidently remains unchanged after his two goals against Greek champions PAOK secured United’s initial Europa League victory of the season and their first win in a continental competition in 12 months. “I’m happy to be here, happy to play for this club and yes, I want to stay here for a long time and make history here,” Amad said. Discussions are currently underway regarding a contract extension, with expectations that Amad will sign a new deal valid until 2027. His contributions against PAOK were vital, transforming what interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy described as a disappointing first-half performance into a winning one during the second half. For Amad, this performance offered an ideal response to a challenging month in which he had not started a single game. “I always do my best, even when I am not starting,” he said. “Everyone wants to play but I just try to stay focused. I was (United) player of the month in August but now I have moved on and am focused on the future.” The imminent arrival of Ruben Amorim from Sporting provides Amad with a fresh opportunity to impress, even though United’s new head coach typically does not utilize orthodox wide players. Amad is not alone in his uncertainty regarding the specific role Amorim will require of him. However, he is looking forward to the challenge. “I am excited to have him in this team and I can’t wait to work with him,” he said.
