Peter Swan, a former player for Hull City, has stated that club owner Acun Ilicali is facing increasing pressure following the team’s disappointing start to the current season. Currently positioned 19th in the Championship, the Tigers are scheduled to play against Luton Town on Saturday, aiming to break a seven-game winless streak, which includes three draws and four losses. This season began with Tim Walter taking over as head coach, a decision made after Liam Rosenior was dismissed at the conclusion of the previous season, despite the team finishing seventh and missing the play-offs by only three points. Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, Swan remarked, “I think the pressure is on the owner. I said that at the start because I thought the club was going in the right direction before, when Liam was in charge. He saw it differently did the owner.” He further elaborated on the club’s objectives, adding, “They wanted entertainment so he’s brought in the manager to try and give that. We haven’t seen that. I haven’t seen improvement in the players.” Swan asserted that head coach Walter’s primary strategy “is not working” and expressed disagreement with Ilicali’s assertion that the Tigers have experienced misfortune. Regarding Hull City’s challenges with injuries and suspensions, Swan commented, “All teams go through it. It seems to balance itself out.” He then concluded, “Unlucky? No, I just don’t think we’re good enough. I just don’t think the players have got the quality to fight for the top 10.” Swan reiterated that the responsibility for the team’s performance lay with the owner from the season’s outset, not the manager. He stated, “The manager has come in, there’s no pressure on him.” He further explained, “The owner’s made the decision to make that change when 80% of the fans thought we’re going in a direction quicker than we thought really. The club is resting on his decisions [Ilicali]. If he’s going to stick with him [Walter], I think he needs to have a chat with him and say look, we need a plan B or even a plan C here.” Swan concluded his remarks by stating, “Because what we’re doing, we’re not getting better, the players aren’t improving and I still don’t believe they trust in how he wants them to play.” Post navigation Analysis of Glasgow’s 17-15 Victory Over Scarlets Stevie May Returns to Scoring Form, Eyes More Trophies
