Following a job loss, a man legally known as Luke Skywalker liquidated his extensive assortment of Star Wars collectibles. This collection featured autographed film memorabilia, alongside full-scale replicas of characters, creatures, and droids from the franchise. Mr Skywalker stated, “I need to survive. This stuff is just in a warehouse just collecting dust all the time.” Held at Wessex Auction Rooms in Chippenham, the auction was characterized as “extremely unique.” Among the items sold were full-scale reproductions of the well-known droids R2D2 and C3PO, a battle droid originating from the prequel trilogy, lightsabers, blasters, and various Storm Trooper helmets. Additionally, merchandise from other cinematic universes and franchises, such as Terminator and Star Trek, was also part of the sale. The total amount realized from the sale of these items was not made public. Mr Skywalker further explained, “My van blew up last week and I need a new one, so I thought I’ve still got lots.” He added, “I’ve got the memories and I’ve got the photos, you know?” According to Mr Skywalker, certain pieces within the collection comprised rare replica helmets. He noted, “They only released 200 each in the world.” Tim Weeks, who serves as director and auctioneer at Wessex Auction Rooms and is also a Bargain Hunt expert, commented, “We had a packed room and more than 500 live online bidders from around the world.” He further expressed, “It’s great as an auctioneer to see the Star Wars is so popular and alive again.” Mr Skywalker conveyed his satisfaction, stating he was “very happy” with the results.
