Emily Brobyn, a Manchester City supporter, stated that escaping Anfield with only a 2-0 defeat was a “relief.” Liverpool had comfortably dominated City, having squandered opportunities that could have sealed the game by halftime. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast, Brobyn elaborated on her feelings: “I was just relieved to get out of there with a 2-0 loss because after the Feyenoord collapse in midweek I was really fearing the worse going to Anfield while really low on confidence. We rode that initial start. There was a period in the game where we were 1-0 down and starting to come back into it in the second half. I was screaming at Pep to bring on [Kevin] De Bruyne and [Jack] Grealish at that point because it was the ideal time to introduce them. It became too late after the errors.” She attributed recent setbacks to individual mistakes, stating, “It has been individual errors that have cost us recently in games and I think that stems from just how low the confidence is right now.” Brobyn acknowledged the team’s current predicament, adding, “We’re in a difficult spot right now but I do think maybe it might alleviate the pressure to be out of the title race, regroup, get back to basics, get rid of the errors and just win a football match.” She also supported manager Guardiola’s actions, commenting, “I do think Guardiola was right to remind people by holding up the fingers to show six titles in seven seasons. It isn’t a normal achievement and there will inevitably be a drop-off at some point. You can’t enjoy those successes without enduring those challenges which will inevitably come at some point.” Post navigation Newbridge Secures Derry SFC Title, Ending Glen’s Reign Scottish Football: McGinn Faces Ticket Demands and Transfer Speculation, Shankland Nears Rangers Move
