The 1-1 draw against Slough Town in National League South extended Truro City’s unbeaten run under manager John Askey to six matches. However, Askey expressed unhappiness regarding a decision that led to Slough Town’s equalising goal. After a goalless first half, Will Dean provided an assist for substitute Jaze Kabia, who opened the scoring in the 65th minute. Kabia had been on the field for only two minutes before he finished effectively from inside the box, marking his eighth goal of the season. Slough then levelled the score 11 minutes later when Slavi Spasov struck from a corner, which Askey believed should not have been awarded. “We’ve gone one up and I thought we we’re just going to see the game out, and again a decision by the official has inadvertently cost us,” he informed BBC Radio Cornwall. He elaborated, “Their lad’s gone to cross the ball, crossed it out of play and he’s given them a corner for some strange reason and they score from the corner.” Askey acknowledged, “I know we’ve got to still defend it, but it’s things like that can cost you.” He concluded, “So it is three points lost really, although I think teams will come here and find it hard.” The draw elevates Truro to second place in the league table, positioning them a point behind leaders Eastbourne Borough with a game in hand.
